Imitations of Edward the Confessor's pennies are known to have been struck in Denmark during the so called 'Stridsperioden’ (literally meaning a ‘time of dispute’), an unsettled time period when the three rivals Magnus den Gode, Harald Hardrade, and Svend Estridsen competed against each other for the Danish throne. This coin is of somewhat wilder and cruder style than the usual imitations related to the 'Stridsperioden', therefore our attribution is tentative
